Main Ideas

1. Reflection on the value of computer-assisted building
Smart house, digitized space change the way people live, making our life more comfortable, efficient and making our life pace more tightened.
The responsibility of architecture is to provide people from all walks of life with a suitable living environment, regardless of geographic regions.
The smart houses originated from computer-assisted construction provide us not only high-quality living condition and environment but the extension of limitless economic cost is also included, so as to challenge the boundless pursuit of intelligence. Can computer-assisted architecture and digitized architectural technology only be applied to costly architectural draft plan or the draft from privileged conglomerate? In view of the reflection on the matter, we manage to invest the architectural technology in the underprivileged people/the minority.

2. Helping to reshape the remote districts
“Volunteer clinic” is often heard of, yet “volunteer build” is rarely heard of. “Medicins Sans Frontieres” is frequently seen, yet “Architects Without Boundaries” is seldom seen. We can always see “doctors with empathy” in the Chinese classics, but we don’t see “architects with empathy”. Not that there are no people of good deed, but that the door to the value and act of charity is just not open yet. Those who practice medicine have seen life and death all through their life. It’s the deed of philanthropy. If the architects can sympathize with the homeless and the ill, their value of kindness shall be inspired. We plan to set up a humanity architect website which is going to serve as platform for follow-up fund raising activities for the underprivileged. It is going to benefit the aboriginal kids from remote mountain areas in the initial stage and continuing to offer help in the “Library, Learning” program.

3. Integrating the alternative service into the program.
Alternative servicemen each have their expertise in various fields. They love to communicate with people and equip themselves with knowledge of differing areas. Under the common consensus of “learning to build and service”, they are organized to realize and participate in the “Volunteer Build” activity in their free time.

4. Appealing the students to joining the Volunteer Build
The program provides students who love build activities with actual building operation and practice courses, bringing them a unique experience during summer and winter vacation. Through do it yourself operation, they can understand the problems of 工業製照與工匠技術 and 思考落差 of architectural design and embodiment and thus gain the actual experiences and operating concepts.

5. Inspiring the interest among aboriginal kids.
Not only do we help build the houses but also inspire the faith and creativity of house building among aborigines. We influence the kids and prompt kids’ imagination toward the houses with “Build to tell a story” activity, thus bringing forth the curiosity about houses among the aboriginal people.
We hope to see the rise of aboriginal architects who can take hold of their own ingredients, cultural awaking, and traditional background in the Central Range of Taiwan. They shall create local architecture with the tribal sources they know well.
